A biomechanical tongue model for speech production based on MRI live speaker data.
Dr Adam Baker recorded 3D MRI scans, with himself as the subject, for a set of English phones in collaboration with Ultrax project partners on July 7th 2011. Seconded to the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, Dr Baker received British Academy funding from their Visiting Scholar scheme for a 2 month research visit to the Clinical Audiology, Speech and Language (CASL) Research Centre at Queen Margaret University in Summer 2011, working with MRI vocal tract data in collaboration with the Ultrax project.
