First Clinicians’ Meeting

On Thursday 1st February some members of the Ultrax2020 team met with our clinical partners from NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, NHS Lothian, and NHS Grampian.

Joanne summarised the project and its expected outcomes, and Ellie discussed the procedures for assessment and intervention using ultrasound visual biofeedback.

Sam and Aciel provided the speech and language therapists (SLTs) with an introduction to what may be possible with machine learning, and the SLTs provided some suggestions about what features they would find useful in clinical practice.

Alan Wrench from Articulate Instruments Ltd. demonstrated the ultrasound and SonoSpeech software, and then everyone had some hands-on practice using the equipment.

We received some very helpful feedback from SLTs about how to best design and implement the Ultrax2020 project and software.

Close collaboration between the academic sector, industry, and the clinical sector was on show at this meeting!
